En Cojonnex
The buildings complete the urbanised strip that runs alongside the Cojonnex road from the Lausanne Hotel School, reinforcing its coherence and marking its completion. The three buildings are arranged around a square, which mirrors the central space linking the three neighbouring student buildings.
The positioning and orientation of the buildings favour functional and visual permeability towards the Jorat woods. Their slightly fragmented volume responds to the scale of the context, seeking to establish a balanced relationship with the two villas on the site.
The three buildings, which have been awarded the Minergie-P-Eco© label, house 90 affordable rental apartments. The building bordering the protected natural area to the east and closing off the built complex contains the four-room apartments, while the other two buildings mainly house two- and three-room apartments.
The outdoor landscaping designed by Atelier du Paysage complements and reinforces the project's location and its relationship with the surrounding natural environment.
Large native trees add a vegetal dimension to the buildings, while shrubs and flower beds act as filters between the buildings and the paths, bringing a contemporary and poetic touch to this new park.
The central square features a playground that extends onto the noise barrier mound, as well as a playful fountain, an artistic work by the Schlaepfer-Capt studio. Funded by the ‘Plus SCHL’ Fund, this project is intended to promote the enhancement of common or landscaped areas, in order to offer residents a high-quality built environment that is conducive to social interaction and shared activities.
The range of materials used for the façades draws on the rural character of the surrounding area, combining wood cladding and render, further anchoring this project in the context of Chalet-à-Gobet.
