Hotel NHOW Amsterdam RAI

The NHOW Amsterdam RAI hotel is located in the Scheldebuurt district, opposite the Amsterdam RAI international congress and events fair complex. An event and business area with an effervescent activity. With a total of 650 rooms, a convention and congress area, restaurants and a fitness centre, it is the largest hotel operated in the Benelux region to date.

The strategy for the development of the interior design concept was based on the idea of the "multicultural HUB" that Amsterdam became in the early Middle Ages and which is still valid today. Following this premise, the hotel becomes a transposition of the rich and complex collection of influences that have defined Amsterdam's history, culture and architecture.

This strategy is made tangible in a disruptive way, moving away from conventionalisms or cultural clichés, and opting for solutions that challenge established patterns. The multiculturalism argument is channelled through 6 themes in direct reference to cardinal points or cultures, namely: North, East, Southeast, South, Southwest and Northwest. All this is articulated through the use of materials, colours and textures.

In the rooms, the choice is made to directly transpose one type of culture or another, through the finishes, furniture, fabrics and decorative graphic patterns, depending on their location within the hotel. In the public areas, on the other hand, the limits between these interior design patterns are diluted to achieve new-style disciplinary combinations.

The project has been developed in close collaboration with Enrique Tellechea (The Null) who defined the script on which the project has been articulated, David Zuker in charge of the production of the integrated graphics, as well as the NH Hotels Group project department.
