The brief consisted in improving and broadening the existing documentation center of this clinical institute. These premises are indeed dedicated to studying and consulting important educational resources. Originally, this space was arranged on a single floor in a gable. The projects’ intents were to demolish the corbel and the covering that overlooked the patio under which the space stretched. Presently the library spreads onto the whole surface of the patio with a double height ceiling. A couple large skylights bring abundant natural light to the space. The interior facade composed of glass panels and wooden wall screens create a distinct link between this documentation center and its context, particularly its location within the building, acting as a key circulation hub through to the different spaces. Besides the evident spatial changes offering students a preferable working environment, this project has also somewhat redefined the identity of this educational establishment.
