Works begin on rue des Crêtes and rue de la Borde 02/2025 · Suisse, Lausanne
By 2027, a complex of 105 homes and business premises will be completed in the Borde-Crêtes district. Accompanied by carefully thought-out landscaping, the development will adapt significantly to its surroundings, combining two distinct atmospheres: an urban, mineral presence along rue de la Borde, and a peaceful, landscaped atmosphere facing the hillside and the Crêtes garden district.
Preparatory work began at the end of 2024, following the granting of planning permission. Structural work is scheduled to start in the second half of 2025. This project embodies several fundamental aspects that we defend, particularly in relation to the quality of life of residents. Although dense and compact, the project offers a typological variety and flexibility of appropriation in line with current and future lifestyles. The flats will benefit from open views over a shared courtyard-garden, providing living spaces with a quality of light and pleasant open spaces, avoiding frontal overlooking. The south-facing loggias have been designed as transitional spaces between private and communal life.
The architectural language reflects an approach that respects the urban and landscape context. The project as a whole embraces the complex topography of the site, blending into the existing urban environment while preserving the identity of the neighbourhood. The facades on the street and courtyard sides reflect the specific features of the site, expressing its urban or more intimate character depending on the exposure. They contribute to the transition between public space and semi-private garden courtyard. The project will incorporate an innovative load-bearing system, using a mixed concrete and wood ‘pegged’ slab, which contributes to the interior character of the flats and also offers an interesting alternative in terms of the construction's embodied energy.
