In 2017, the studio receives a mandate from the management of a rental building along the Route de Chavannes to convert the commercial space on the ground floor into a day-care centre, accommodating 32 babies and toddlers in a facility already established in the municipality, in need of new premises to increase its capacity.
The project fits subtly into the existing space, allowing for continuity between the different volumes through a combination of transparency, light and the generous use of wood. The communal area of the nursery, comprising the parent-child/children's area and the dining room, is char
acterised by the installation of a condemned tree, rehabilitated as the central element of the dining table. Much more than a simple ornament, this sculpture, which can be seen from all the function rooms, introduces nature into the heart of the interior space, all the while stimulating the children's creativity.
Wide glass panels allow natural light to flood from the dining room into the nursery and trotter areas, which are interconnected by a sliding door. The terrace is both extended and defined by wooden cladding, housing a covered area for pushchairs. The interior materials clearly reflect the nursery's vocation to adapt to the needs of young children. Wood is used for the interior carpentry and the modular furniture, while a palette of light colours in soft tones evokes the natural surroundings.
