The Museum of Contemporary Art is located on the shores of Lake Geneva, in Pully, on the eastern outskirts of Lausanne. The site was home to two early 20th-century buildings that had housed the Teintureries Lyonnaises; their architectural and spatial qualities justified their preservation and transformation. The main neoclassical building retains its administrative function and houses offices, the bookshop and the art storage facility. The second building, of an industrial nature, allows for the installation of a series of exhibition rooms of different sizes. The only modern intervention, the low structure that connects the two buildings, houses the main entrance and the museum reception. Its roof is treated as a sculpture terrace and is the highlight of the tour of the rooms. Its architectural treatment affirms the contemporary intervention, serves as a reference point for visitors and reinforces the overall identity of the new museum.
