Avenue Dapples 54

1999 - 1999 · Suisse, Lausanne · Administration

By the end of the nineties, about five years after its foundation, Richter et Dahl Rocha had been steadily growing. This constant growth led to a careful re-evaluation of the firms needs and to a reorganisation of its office and studio spaces. The firm thus moved into a new space, a semi-industrial warehouse connected to a nineteenth century masonry building, integrated to the fabric of a residential neighbourhood. Open studio spaces for teamwork occupy the original floor of the old warehouse and a newly created mezzanine, while offices and conference rooms are located in the nineteenth century structure. Though both parts of the building were carefully renovated, the contemporary nature of the intervention becomes particularly apparent through newly created elements that give the different spaces their specific character whilst serving as links over the whole project: two folded steel staircases, a steel and engraved-glass bridge, and all plywood furniture elements.
