Edificio la Nación

Character: The La Nación building is located on the riverfront, defining the imprint of the metropolis in this strategic location between the city and the province. The architectural expression of the complex is based on the volumetric purity of the three structures, which subtly dissolves through the play of reflections and opacities of its delicate glass skin. These effects change constantly with the variations in the light from the sky. Its permeability helps to enliven this street, which becomes a commercial and gastronomic promenade.

Energy: The volumetric compactness optimises the energy performance of the three buildings. The curtain wall of the façades is composed of a triple screen-printed thermopanel with integrated interior sunshades that are highly energy efficient. The sunshades in turn reflect light into the interior of the floor, improving comfort.

Implementation: The way in which the high density of the programme is fragmented is key to the urban impact of the project. The proposal is based on three detached, compact and distant buildings, which are located in the urban void between the city and the river. This solution guarantees the necessary permeability to avoid the wall effect in this urban void. The tripartite scheme also allows for: optimising the surface area of the standard floors from the point of view of the flexibility of their functional organisation; optimising the compactness factor; optimising the use of the views towards the river; and a completely independent three-stage implementation.
