Quartier des Uttins
The Uttins Quarter occupies a large tree-lined plot located a stone's throw from the historic centre of the town of Rolle. In accordance with the rules of the neighbourhood plan legalised in 1996, the four residential buildings and three office buildings that make up the neighbourhood are located on the perimeter of the site and along the access road, freeing up two large communal green spaces. Built between 2000 and 2009, the buildings have different characteristics (size, shape, position on the site, use), but display their similarity thanks, in particular, to the unity of materials, dominated by red brick and grey or white concrete, and the consistency of the access systems. This sense of unity and consistency gives the neighbourhood a strong identity. In terms of access, the four residential buildings share a careful management of the transition between the public space of the street and the private space of the dwelling, through semi-public outdoor spaces - adapted to the topography - and semi-private distribution spaces, a kind of internal street. In terms of typology, these four buildings develop variations on the bar type, from the articulated bar in plan and section (E, G), through the cut-out, stepped bar (F, G), to the hybrid type of building D, whose three sections, connected by terraces, present a continuous façade on the park side, but which, on the street side, can be seen as the articulation of three blocks defining two open courtyards.
