Urban redevelopment in Vevey
This project is part of an ambitious redevelopment programme for the neighbourhoods north of the CFF railway lines in Vevey, supported by a comprehensive development plan. Designed following an architectural competition, it aims to create a coherent urban block, combining density, conviviality and respect for the environment.
The complex consists of eight adjoining buildings forming a closed but permeable block, crossed by a new public passageway that opens up the neighbourhood and anticipates its future pedestrianisation. Ground floors bustling with shops and services enhance street life and strengthen ties with the neighbourhood.
At the heart of the block, a semi-public garden offers a cool space designed for biodiversity, water management and relaxation. A large south-facing communal terrace with views of the lake and mountains features a shared vegetable garden reserved for residents.
The architecture uses a post-and-beam structure with wooden slabs for maximum flexibility and a controlled carbon footprint. The partially vegetated façades, facing south and west, contribute to the thermal efficiency and natural atmosphere of the site.
Designed to accommodate condominium units, the project combines quality of life, sustainability and urban integration. It marks a key stage in the evolution of Vevey, between local heritage and contemporary ambitions.
